This weekend we're in Ann Arbor, visiting friends from grad school and all our favorite places....mostly restaurants. All this food implies I should probably eat a lot of salad next week, but since it'll be my birthday, I think instead this week's vote should be for my birthday cake!
A) Oatmeal Chocolate Cookie Cake from Layered
B) London Fog Cake (Earl Grey tea-based cake with caramel sauce) from Layered
C) Butterscotch Bourbon Cake from Layered
D) Honey Fig Cake from Layered
E) Coconut Mojito Cake from Layered
F) Yuzu Citrus Cake from Layered
G) Chocolate Cassis Cake from Layered
Can you tell I'm kind of into this cookbook? Layered is pretty amazing....and I'm feeling positive about my Swiss meringue skills again. Now I just have to hope I can make it back Monday despite Hermine.
No wonder you have more than a few options this week, that's a difficult list to choose from. Between the London Fog Cake (how much flavor or aroma will the Bergamot provide) and the Chocolate Cassis Cake (sounds divine)...can't make up my mind! Happy Birthday!!!!
I agree with Carol - the options sound wonderful! I did decide to go with G)Chocolate Cassis Cake.
Glad you are enjoying the Ann Arbor visit and hope you arrive back home Monday.
Happy Birthday!!
Hermine left my travel plans happily unscathed and I managed to make it home without any issues.
It was even difficult to narrow down all the potential options to that list! I'd love to make all the cakes in Tessa's book, but I'd be baking a cake every day from now until February 2017, and that's not quite a feat I can manage.
Thanks for helping me decide on my birthday cake!! Chocolate Cassis Cake it is.
One of these days, I'll need to make the London Fog cake too and report back on the Bergamot flavor...
