We've definitely entered the "it's too hot to cook" part of summer, when all I really want to eat is fresh fruit and cold salads (and ice cream).
Fortunately, I've run across a ton of interesting salad recipes recently, so there are plenty of options. I was going to pick a range of salads from different cookbooks, but then I picked up Favorite Recipes from Melissa Clark's Kitchen and so many things looked appealing and easy I decided to focus on her cookbook only. Let me know what you'd like to see me make & post!
A) Raw Kale Salad with Anchovy-Date Dressing
B) Shaved Zucchini and Avocado Salad with Green Goddess Dressing
C) Crushed New Potatoes and Pea Salad with Mustard Seed Dressing
D) Southeast Asian Tomato Salad
E) Celery Salad with Walnuts and Parmesan
F) Garlicky Sesame-Cured Broccoli Salad
Not feeling the salads?
G) Sauteed Scallops with Tomatoes and Preserved Lemon
H) Steamed Wild Salmon with Mustard Greens, Soy Sauce, and Ginger
I) Thai-style Ground Turkey with Chiles and Basil
All from Favorite Recipes from Melissa Clark's Kitchen
D and F get my vite this week!
E and F get my vote.
Thanks for voting! Sounds like F (the Garlicky Sesame-Cured Broccoli Salad) wins the popular vote this week. It might take a little while for me to get back into the kitchen, but keep an eye out 🙂
Bad news! I made both the F and D and neither were worth posting... The Southeast Asian tomato salad was fine, but surprisingly flavorless given the lime juice, fish sauce, and garlic that went into it. The garlicky sesame-cured broccoli florets were just... not great. I threw them both out because neither of us wanted to eat them. I guess this cookbook is going into the donate bin.
[…] I made from Melissa Clark’s latest cookbook, “favorites from her kitchen“, was a complete disaster. I did write that in response to the ideas post related to that […]
